There is lots of talk and chatter in the wind on the struggling state of the Chinese economy, and although 2015 hasn’t been a banner year, attendance and interest at the China International Offshore Technology Conference (CIOTC) in Beijing certainly indicates that the Chinese offshore sector alive and thriving.
Welaptega CEO Tony Hall was in China to present a paper at CIOTC, and also to present a seminar on mooring integrity management to over 30 representatives from CNOOC, COOEC, PetroChina and Sinopec. The seminar was arranged by Beijing Safetech Limited (BST), Welaptega’s affiliate in China, and who are a highly respected offshore engineering company with strong links to Beijing University of Science and Technology.
Welaptega has been active in China for several years, but only in 2014 were they engaged to provide a full-spectrum of their mooring integrity assessment services to CNOOC. The hugely successful outcome of that program on the Nan Hai Sheng Li FPSO in the South China Sea led to the opportunity to present at the seminar and CIOTC, and intent to engage Welaptega to conduct mooring integrity assessments of other Chinese FPSO assets.
We are looking forward to 2016 and the opportunity to continue to work with CNOOC and other Chinese operators to ensure the highest international standard of offshore mooring integrity management.
