Meet Stephen Robinson-Enebel, Engineer-in-Training

Stephen is the newest member of the Welaptega Team.  He is a fourth year student taking Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University and is working on completing his third and fourth co-op terms here at Welaptega.  Much like previous recruits, we thought it would be awesome to get to know more about this aspiring young man so we sat down with him for a Q&A.

Meet Govinda “G” Jagdeo, Project Engineer

Meet Govinda “G” Jagdeo. G is the newest member of the Welaptega Team and was hired on to fulfill the role of project engineer. He has been with us for just under two months now and his outgoing, optimistic and “can-do” attitude makes him a great addition to our team. Govinda is now offshore Australia working on one of our projects, but before he left we sat down with him to learn a bit more about who is really behind the man we call “G”.

Guess who's back?

We would like to welcome co-op student Nathan Robinson back to the Welaptega Team. Our avid blog readers might remember a Q&A we did with Nathan back in August 2015 regarding his co-op experience at Welaptega. For those of you who haven’t had a chance to read it, you can do so by clicking here.

Welaptega and the Angel Tree Food Bank

Tis’ the season for giving and in the spirit of giving the employees here at Welaptega rallied together and adopted a family through the Caring & Sharing Angel Tree Food Bank Adopt-A-Family program. The Angle Tree Program began in 1993 and supplies food boxes to approximately 200 families over the Christmas holidays. They also supply gifts to approximately 250 children and feed an additional 300 families through their onsite foodbank in Enfield, NS.

2015 Welaptega Bluenose Squash Classic

The 2015 Welaptega Bluenose Squash Classic was held from October 20th- October 25th at the Homburg Centre located on Saint Mary’s University Campus, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The highly competitive racquet event has been held in Halifax for 10 years and, even though Welaptega has always supported the event, we are very proud and excited to have had the opportunity to be the title sponsor for this year.

Here's to you, Mr. Robinson (A peek into the life of a co-op student at Welaptega)

Participating in the co-op program is something we take great pride in here at Welaptega because it allows us to play an important role in the education of our future engineers. Co-op programs build a strong relationship between the university and the employer and is mutually beneficial: eager co-op students can have a very positive effect on productivity and office moral and the universities are kept up-to-date on industries standards. With this Q&A, you’ll get a sneak peek into the world of Welaptega as seen through the eyes of the young, bright, and upbeat co-op student, Nathan Robinson.

Kickmoto's creative design corners the motorcycle market

There is a certain buzz in the air here at Welaptega. Once the snow begins to melt, and the trees begin to bud, it officially becomes motorcycle season. It is a hobby that many of our staff members enjoy - especially one of our Design Engineers, Jordan Braun. While attending a brewery tour sponsored by Engineers Nova Scotia, Jordan found himself in a conversation with two like-minded beer drinkers, Jeff Shaw and Daryl Stewart.

A Christmas Celebration in February

“Christmas in February?” she said; procrastinate much?” So I went on to explain to her that in our field of work, global travel is a regular event for the majority of our staff.

Ringing in the new year. Why 2015 will be great!

There is that common saying at the turn of the year, out with the old and in with the new. Well I am not sure I want to get rid of too much of the old. It seems to be working pretty well - everyone is pulling hard as a team in the same direction (again, great work to sail through our ISO accreditation), we keep nailing project after project and leaving a string of happy and satisfied customers in our wake, the equipment is working, the systems are working, and for the most part everyone seems to be having a good time.

Supporting the Bluenose Squash Tournament

Many of you may not know that Welaptega is one of the major sponsors of the Bluenose Squash Classic held here in Halifax Nova Scotia. Beginning in 2006, the Bluenose draws in masses of spectators to watch many of the world’s best squash players compete for the tournament championship.
